Anniversary Legacy

Today we're celebrating Mom & Dad's 32nd Wedding Anniversary. We're celebrating a real legacy of "loving until it hurts" (as Mother Teresa so well put it). Although they are not living the charmed retirement they always probably dreamed of, they are accomplishing in these years something far more beautiful. They are living a supernatural love, a love that transcends the most painful realities, a love that sees someone's worth not in what they can "do" but in "who they are"...a love that gets up and perseveres after countless falls, a love that is not about self satisfaction but about self gift, a love that reaches for joy in the midst of nightmares & humiliations. They are living the great paradox of the Cross...REAL LOVE. Thank you Mom and Dad. I'm sure the effects of your legacy will be eternal.

The reach of your love for one another extends far beyond your inspirational marriage. Your example of love for one another has been passed onto your children and is evident in their lives and marriages. And they in turn reach out and influence countless lives... Thank you for your love!

Lorrie and Fred,

You two have been such a huge part of my life, and I don't know where I would be without your generosity and love through the years. Thank you for letting a sister/sister-in-law/aunt move in and stay (and stay and stay and STAY!) I treasure the close relationship I was able to have with each of you, and with Jen, Cal, Cath, Greg and John. (In fact, in some ways, I feel that my own three children are my "second family;" since I got to participate up-close-and-personal many of the joys and sorrows of the Pierce kids as they grew.) You two should be ENORMOUSLY proud of the relationship you have, and the children you have raised. You are a blessing and an inspiration to all! I love you!

P.S. Does this make up a teeny bit for my failure to write a scrap book page for your 25th anniversary?! :)

Dearest Lorrie and Fred,

Thank you for your beautiful example of self-sacrificing love. I feel so blessed to know you and share in some small way in the love that permeates throughout your entire family. I pray God grants you many more precious years together and the joy of watching your love bear more and more fruit in your ever-growing family.

Love,
Emily

Congratulations on 32 years!!!
i repeat a phrase that is part of a song written by a mother with two special needs children on days when i get really tired and worn down
"Maybe we won't find easy, but baby we found the good"
And i think of you two all the time for that line as well!
Marriage of any kind isn't easy, and yours in recent years has been more difficult than anyone but you two can fathom...
but you've never lost "the good"!
I sound like a broken record but it's so true that your lives are an inspiration to me, to all of us.
I'm so glad to have lived so close to you all so that i could spend such great years in your home! You always welcomed me and supported my endeavors as if i were just another one of yours (like coming to every night of one of my plays!!)
Thanks for being a great example to us and i hope you are having a blast with everyone! Can't wait to see pictures!!!
